Visiting the Museum
What are your hours of operation?
School Year Hours (September–May):
Monday & Tuesday: Closed to the Public for Field Trips
Wednesday–Saturday: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Sunday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Summer Hours (Memorial Day through Labor Day):
Monday–Saturday: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Sunday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
The museum is closed on Easter, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. We're also closed the Sunday after the Momus Parade.
How much is admission?
Admission is $10 per person. Children under 2 years old are free. Museum members always receive free admission.
Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?
No. Admission is available at the door. No reservations required for general visits.
Where are you located?
We're located on the ground floor of the historic Moody Mansion at 2618 Broadway Street, Galveston, TX 77550
Where do I park?
Free parking is available in the gated lot at 27th Street and Broadway.
How long should we plan to stay?
Most families spend about 1.5 to 2 hours exploring. You're welcome to stay as long as you like during open hours!
Children & Play
What ages is the museum designed for?
Our exhibits are designed for children ages 0–10, but we welcome all children and their grown-ups.
Can adults visit without children?
For the safety of our guests, unaccompanied adults must schedule their visit in advance and be escorted by museum staff.
Do children need to be supervised?
Yes. All children must be accompanied and actively supervised by an adult at all times while inside the museum.
Are food and drinks allowed?
Food and drinks are allowed only in designated areas, such as the party room. Please no eating or drinking near exhibits.
Can I bring a stroller?
Yes! Strollers are welcome. We also recommend baby-wearing as a convenient option for parents with infants.
Accessibility & Accommodations
Is the museum accessible?
Yes, our facility is wheelchair accessible and stroller-friendly. If you have specific accessibility needs, please contact us ahead of your visit.
Do you offer accommodations for sensory-sensitive children?
Absolutely! We offer noise-canceling headphones and have sensory-friendly activities and quiet zones (like our “Room to Grow” space) for children who need them.
Parties & Rentals
Can I host a party at the museum?
Absolutely! You can rent our party room for birthdays, celebrations, and gatherings. Learn more and book your party here.

Programs & Registration
Do I have to pay when I register for a program or camp?
Yes. Payment is required at the time of registration to secure your spot. Please email us at info@galvestoncm.org.
What is your refund or cancellation policy?
We do not offer refunds. However, if you cancel within the allowed timeframe, you may apply a credit toward a future program. Please email info@galvestoncm.org for assistance.
Membership
How much does a membership cost?
Memberships range from $35 for individuals to $165 for larger families. Learn more on our Memberships page here.
Can I use my membership to bring guests?
Memberships cover only the named individuals listed at the time of purchase.
Can I purchase or renew online?
Yes! Memberships can be purchased or renewed online via our secure form here.

Can I sponsor a Family Free Night?
Definitely! Sponsorship helps us provide free admission to the Galveston community. Sponsors can remain anonymous or receive recognition on our website, social media, and with signage in the museum.
Are you a nonprofit?
Yes! We are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your donation is tax deductible. Donation receipts are available upon request.
Are you part of the Moody Mansion?
No. While we are located on the ground floor of the Moody Mansion, the Galveston Children’s Museum is a completely independent nonprofit organization.
